checking in fall 2012

I'm probably going to have to rebuild this guy from the ground up after we were all doing so well. Just want to let you know that even though there was a shortage of posts, there was never a shortage of love. As Gemini's cover of Drake's "Crew Love" says, there's a whole lot of love. Keep doing you.

Dreary days can't stop futbol fever in the streets of Havana, Cuba. Kade Krichko, June 2012

My dad is truly a sage when he wants to be. He has an amazing ability to take a step back and put things in perspective for me. Sometimes I wish I could do the same for myself. While I feel that I am one of the more self-aware people  out there, I still have moments of weakness. And I digress...

Here is a great article about the way we approach our lives. Beautifully written and composed, it is worth a once-over (I read it thrice). Check it out and tell me what you think!

Loyal brethren, I'll never forget thee, remember that. Here's to not forgetting who you are and where you came from. Some more beats for your cerebrals. As far as my location these days, after graduation I went to Cuba for a month to photograph and live and let me tell you it changed me for the better in so many ways, hope to share more on that soon. Right now I am in San Clemente, CA working an internship with POWDER magazine, the top free skiing mag in the world in my opinion. 4 years ago it was my goal to end up here after school and low and behold, I'm here. Granted I'm licking stamps and stapling memos, but my time will come, I'm quietly confident. Anywho back to the beats. This song is dopamine.

gRAD

So they made a graduation compilation for Northeastern and me and my roomie Lange (see yellowish green shirt) stole the show. Check it out! It's been a crazy ride, and I like to think we took nothing for granted and ripped up Bostonia the best we could. Oh yeah, and we learned a bunch too. Good looks!

Letter From the Editor

I was at an awards dinner tonight as I prepare for graduation (11 day countdown?!) and we had the privilege of hearing an excellent speaker. His message was to a group of aspiring journalists, all geared up to face the 'grave' new world of journalism, the field that is supposed to implode at any moment, sending us all into uncertainty, or so we have been told. But his message was not one of caution, instead, it was one of hope. I would like to share some of his eloquent words with you all. "Some of my colleagues aimed for the highest peaks, looking at the New York Times and the Washington Post as their goals. But me, I aimed for a place that would make me happy, and I'm still happy in journalism. Do what makes you happy."

This affirms my decision to become a journalist. It's tough knowing that I may never make as much money or be as comfortable as the people beside me. Believe me it's tough knowing that in my heart of hearts, I think could do their jobs just as well as them and make just as much as them, maybe that's just the competitor in me. But I have chosen my path. It may not be the final path choice I make, but for now it's a path that I intend to pursue. I have chosen a life that may not have the large payout in dollar signs, but maybe it'll pay out in another way. For me, that something else is worth the risk. I'm on the real life pursuit of happiness. I'm not you nor will I pretend to be, but I urge all of you to follow your own if you get the chance, whatever it may be.

That's it for now. Thanks so much all, you don't need me to tell you this, but you're the greatest. Do you.

Chooseday

Ok it's Tuesday, but I'm slowly going to work my way back into things, so give me a break yea? Got a kinda cool cover for you, a little dubstyley for ya as La Nina vacates and the warm weather slides into the Northeast. Going to ski for the last time this season (not calling my last run, no worries!) up in Maine with the fam, should be a good time. As for this week's cover it's a rendition of Rihanna's "Man Down" by Walk off the Earth. It's weird how all the band members look alike, how do you think they managed that?! Crazy world we live in...enjoy ninas y ninos..

Crackout

DAHHH this is what the world has been missing out on for the past few....days, months, years? Santigold how we've missed you! Here's her new track "Disparate Youth" with an album slated for late May release. Pretty excited to hear it. This beat is just on another level, hope this brings some light to your day.

On the topic of light, we've finally emerged from the Back Bay Boston Blackout 2012, unscathed and all the tougher for the wear (a series of fires knocked out a couple transformers and Boston Fire Department shut down a huge grid, leaving us in the dark for a couple). Can't believe how tough two days of power in the city was, the rugged side of me is incredibly embarrassed, but it was tough! Anywho, this song is fire, enjoy beezys.
